Abstract:
    The article, with regard to the cause and the process of shaping SCO and enumerating its goals and features, tries to analyze the   opportunities and obstacles facing Iran's membership.

     perceiving the  interactive co operations in  regional and international systems, reinforcing the geopolitics position of country,  reducing the pressures of West - particularly America, strengthening economic co operations -especially in the field of energy - and  also scientific  and cultural collaborations  can be Searched in the form of Iran's membership in sco. In addition, Iran's international position and its bargaining power will increase in regional and global levels.

     Iran in the shape of this organization, with regard to the east and along with interactive cooperation and détente orientation toward west, can pursue its long-term development goals. Iran's membership in sco, on the one hand requires extensive economic cooperation of members with Iran and on the other hand, the regional position of Iran in security arrangements will improve

ايران با در اختيار داشتن حدود ۲۶ تريليون متر مكعب گاز (۱۸ درصد ذخاير گاز جهان)، دومين دارنده ذخاير گاز جهان پس از روسيه است. صنعت گاز ايران با وجود داشتن چنين موفقيتي و به دلايل مختلف از جمله غالب بودن نفت بر ساختار اقتصادي و انرژي كشور، تأخير در بهره گيري از ذخاير گازي و سرمايه گذاري هاي محدود، به صنعتي پويا و توسعه يافته تبديل نشده است. نماد مهم اين وضعيت، سهم بسيار اندك ايران در صادرات جهاني گاز است. ايران با صادرات محدود گاز به تركيه عملا از سال ۲۰۰۲ به جمع صادركنندگان گاز جهان پيوست.
